Project Scope
For our project, we will prove the possibility of incorporating a Doppler imaging capability with existing Pulse Therapeutics MED therapy. For an imaging modality capable of real-time visualization, we will need to design an adjustable, head-mounted fixture for a transducer that does not interfere with the magnetic therapy, so the fixture cannot block access of the magnet to the patient’s head or have metal components. We will also design a transducer that is compatible with our head-mounted fixture and is capable of insonating the MCA, ACA, and PCA major cranial arteries. Finally, we will create an algorithm to identify changes in flow that would be characteristic of clot dissolution. The algorithm will notify the user of the initiation of clot dissolution and also upon return to normal blood flow in the region of former occlusion.
